Engineers create the products and technologies that change our way of life, from medical robotics and smartphones to water purification and efficient automobiles. Great engineering requires creativity, but it also takes experimentation and practice. The new engineering building is designed with a distinct emphasis on innovation and will give students the space and resources needed to turn their ideas into reality. Our programs emphasize hands-on, project-based learning and provide opportunities for students, faculty, staff and industry to work together.
The building will house specialized laboratories and equipment where tomorrow’s innovators can build their prototypes and test their ideas. The entire first floor of the new facility will feature the Student Innovation Center—a collaborative prototyping area surrounded by individual project bays. These areas will allow us to expand and strengthen programs like our capstone project design courses and our annual Student Innovator of the Year competition.
